Bourbon Cream wins big with Garden & Gun

Garden & Gun December 2023 front cover

We are over the moon. We couldn’t have dreamed it. Not only does our Bourbon Cream Liqueur appear in the December 2023 to January 2024 issue of Garden & Gun magazine, but we’ve won an award!

In the Drink category of Garden & Gun’s 2023 Made in the South Awards, Butter Pecan Bourbon Cream Liqueur by Doc Brown Farm & Distillers was named a runner-up. Along with the award, the magazine wrote a piece that describes how we work the farm, grow our heirloom Jimmy Red Corn, distill the grain and extract the deep natural flavors that make our Bourbon Cream a winner.

It’s almost unprecedented for a start-up like ours to win an award like this in the first year after releasing a spirit. For many, getting it right can take up to a decade and there is so much competition.

This is amazing news for us and we are so grateful to the Garden & Gun editorial team and judges – not to mention all our customers out there who have put our little farm and distillery on the map. THANK YOU!

Read about it on the Garden & Gun website.

Gold medals for Bourbon Creams

Peppermint Mocha and Butter Pecan Bourbon Cream Liqueurs with gold medals

Pinch us! Is this real? Doc Brown Farm & Distillers has just won two gold medals at the ninth annual Georgia Trustees Wine & Spirits Competition.

These are the first medals we’ve won since setting up the farm and they were awarded to our Butter Pecan and Peppermint Mocha Bourbon Cream liqueurs in the Distilled and Specialty Spirits category.

We’re delighted to receive these awards – as chosen by the competition’s panel of judges, which includes trained experts in wine tasting alongside spirits specialists.

Here at Doc Brown, we take pride in farming our little corner of Georgia and we strive to use ingredients from this state and work with local businesses in everything we do. So, it’s extra special to be recognized here in our home state by a competition dedicated to Georgia’s wine, mead, cider and spirit producers.

Inspired!

But now that we have a laurel, we’re not going to rest on it, oh no. These medals have inspired us to carry on with our mission to make the finest farm fresh bourbon, from seed to still, using the heritage Jimmy Red Corn we grow here in Senoia, GA.

Now that our first batch of bourbons – Effie Jewel and Uncle Bogue – have been released, the Georgia Trustees Wine & Spirits Competition will be first on our list to enter next year. We can’t wait to see what the judges will think of these charred oak-aged Georgia whiskeys.

We’d like to send out a big thank you to everyone involved in running the competition and also to y’all who have supported our business since it was just the kernel of an idea waiting to be planted. God bless.
